The Canary Islands received their fair share of strange weather patterns over the winter season, allowing some of the locals to practice in conditions that were almost the exact opposite of what they're used to.

Top PWA competitor, Dario Ojeda (Simmer, Mormaii, Dakine, MFC) was one of those making the most of the starboard tack sessions. Check out his short video by following this link HERE.

We caught up with Ojeda to find out what he thought of the conditions that day.

PWA: How does it feel to ride your local spot the wrong way round?

DO: "It's a lot of fun! Pozo is almost exclusively port tack cross onshore, so to get it like this is a dream!"

PWA: Do you find it more difficult being so dialled in to port tack sailing?

DO: "I have no problems riding on either tack, but jumping can be a bit harder for me on starboard."

PWA: Describe the feeling you get when you boost a huge aerial.

DO: "It's such an amazing feeling, I don't think I can really describe it!"

PWA: What's the most difficult thing about riding waves?

DO: "Getting your timing just right can be tough, and staying on the whole wave, linking all of the sections together can be really difficult at some spots. Trying to do different things on the same wave is also quite a challenge, especially if you only get two or three turns in."
