Billabong Pro Tahiti Called Off for Today, Probable Start in the Coming Days

TEAHUPOO, Taiarapu/Tahiti - Event organizers for the Billabong Pro Tahiti, Event No. 5 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, have called its third consecutive lay day today, but with swell projected to build through the next 72 hours, the world’s best surfers could be on at Teahupoo in the coming days.

“This is probably the smallest day yet, as projected, and we’ve called competition off for the day,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “The next couple of days are showing a build which could see us running, and the end of the waiting period is also looking more favourable than it was a few days ago. We’ll be back tomorrow morning at 7am to assess conditions.”

Surfline, official forecasters for the Billabong Pro Tahiti, are calling for small scale southwest swell will ease through mid week. A small, long period southwest swell will slowly build in Thursday and Friday, which will offer a slight increase in size and power.
