ISAF would like to thank all of the ISAF Member National Authorities and National Olympic Committees that made it possible for the Candidates to go to the UK. Without the financial commitment from these important organisations ISAF could not provide the intense training that the Scholars undergo during their eight week Course. We are delighted to be able to provide this service to our members.

ISAF Training and Development Manager Dan Jaspers said: 'To see exactly how much these coaches have developed over the last eight weeks is a testament to all those many people who have been involved, let alone the coaches own drive to learn. This course combines input from so many sources and tries to give the candidates a fully rounded set of experiences for them to go away and know how to work as part of a big team and to have the contacts to call on that will help them develop their national programmes to international standards. I am very proud of how this year's candidates have acted and see within them the same passion for the sport that drives me everyday. I hope that they will have much success in seeing their grand plans turn to reality and now consider these individuals as friends within our global sailing family.'

Rob Holden, National Training Manager from South Africa who completed the pilot Training Scholarship course in 2009 is on site at the ISAF Annual Conference in Athens to share his story. Rob reported to the Connect to Sailing Seminar on Sunday - click here for more - and kept the audience captivated with his inspiring story.

Also joining the Confernece is 2010 Scholarship Candidate Emrah Surmen from Turkey who presented his vision of how he will develop the Turkish National Training Programme. Rob and Emrah are both very important additions to a great line up at this year's conference and we look forward to their continued passionate involvement.
